It's good to have about 4 or 5 Bridesmaids and Groomsmen on each side, but having 20+ people in a bridal party (our record is 32!) is a little too much.
We honestly think that a huge bridal party doesn't look great in photos because almost always there's one or two of them doing something different than everybody else, or someone blinks in 8 out of 10 photos and we have to prioritize which photo to keep when there are other 20+ people with their eyes open.
What's a good number? Anywhere between 8 to 12 people result in great photos almost every time. 14-16 people might be ok if they behave!
Any more than that, prepare to spend a considerable amount of time taking pictures with them!
